CBD Oil Label – How to Read

  • by

We get many calls and emails asking about our CBD product’s strength, dosage, etc. Many people are confused about reading a CBD Oil bottle label. You need to look out for a couple of things while reviewing a CBD Oil product. I will go over the correct way to understand the CBD label.

Total CBD MG in Bottle

The total milligrams in a CBD Oil bottle will be the easiest to figure out. It is usually the largest number on the bottle. Shown below is our 2500mg USDA certified organic full spectrum CBD oil bottle. That 2500mg is the total CBD in the bottle. That means that if you were to drink the entire bottle, you would get a dose of 2500mg (DO NOT DO THAT!). We get many questions from people who tried other CBD products and say, well, they had a 100mg bottle or 500mg bottle, and that’s all the information they give us. While at least that is some information, that is just the total CBD milligrams in a bottle. Was the bottle size 10ml, 30ml, 50ml, etc.? The total milligrams in a bottle are a good starting point for figuring out how to read a CBD oil product.

Total ML in Bottle

Figuring out total milliliters is very simple and should be listed on the bottle. Most CBD oil bottles range from 10ml- 120+ milliliters. You can see below on our 1250mg CBD bottle that the total milliliters are 25. If a product does not list total milliliters, you should stay away as that is critical information. You can figure out what the mg/ml is if you have total milligrams in the bottle and total milliliters in the bottle.

Dosage of MG/ML

You can see on our 500mg organic CBD oil bottle (below) that we list the CBD dosage in milligrams per milliliter. We have noticed that a lot of CBD oils do not list the dosage of mg/ml. It is straightforward to figure out what it is. You take the total CBD milligrams in the bottle and divide it by the bottle’s total milliliters. For example, the 500mg bottle shown below is 500 total CBD milligrams in the entire bottle. The bottle size is ten total milliliters in the bottle. 500 divided by 10 is 50. That means that there are 50 milligrams of CBD per milliliter. Our CBD oil droppers are marked with 0.25ml, 0.5ml, 0.75ml, and 1ml for easy dosing. If you were to fill the dropper to 1ml, that would equal 50mg of CBD.

1ml = 50mg CBD
0.75ml = 37.5mg CBD
0.5ml = 25mg CBD
0.25ml = 12.5mg CBD

Other things to look for on CBD Oil Label

A CBD oil bottle should have all things labeled above. Including total CBD in the bottle, total milliliters in the bottle, and the MG dosage per ML. Some companies do not include the MG per ML, but if you read the paragraph above you, I give you a simple way to figure out MG per ML. Another thing to look for is the ingredients and if the CBD oil is certified organic or not. You can tell if a product is a real organic CBD oil if it has the USDA organic seal. You can read more about why it is essential and how to figure out if a CBD product is USDA certified organic. Organic CBD oil is required to list their ingredients to have the seal on their product.
